On June 4, 2024, Roberto Manuel Baez Jr., a 30-year-old resident of Waterbury, Connecticut, was fatally shot in an incident that occurred on Washington Street. The shooting happened early in the morning, around 12:16 a.m., following a reported disturbance in the area.

Police responded to the scene after receiving reports of gunshots and a gunshot victim. Baez had been taken to Saint Mary’s Hospital in a private vehicle, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
