Anthony Banks, a 38-year-old Black male from Middletown, was visiting a friend at a residence on Madison Street. Just before 10:30 p.m., as they talked, a shot rang out, and Banks collapsed to the floor.
His friend discovered a bleeding wound on Banks's back and immediately called for help. Emergency services arrived and transported him to Saint Mary's Hospital. Despite the efforts of the medical team, Anthony Banks was pronounced dead at 11:06 p.m. Detectives from the Waterbury Police Department and their Crime Scene Unit began an investigation into the fatal shooting.
