In the quiet neighborhood of Newhallville, New Haven, a promising young life was abruptly cut short on the evening of May 29, 2023. Mark Mulongo, a 16-year-old Black or African American male, was fatally shot in what should have been the safety of his own driveway. A sophomore at Hillhouse High School, he was known by his loved ones and community members as a good student who was actively involved in his community.
