In the early evening of October 20, 2024, a sense of normalcy at Lisbon Park in Denver's Green Valley Ranch neighborhood was shattered by an act of sudden violence. Seventeen-year-old Edwin Sanchez, a Hispanic male, was with a friend in the park's parking lot, a space adjacent to Green Valley Elementary School, when their lives were irrevocably altered. It was around 6:30 p.m. when an unknown individual approached the two. Without warning, the person opened fire, striking Edwin.
