In the late hours of a Thursday evening in Little Rock, Arkansas, a burst of violence cut short the life of 17-year-old Carnelius Williams. On January 5, 2023, the young Black male was shot multiple times in the vicinity of Chicot Road and Depriest Road. The gravely wounded teenager was rushed to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences hospital, but his injuries proved to be too severe.
Despite medical efforts, Williams succumbed to the multiple gunshot wounds he sustained.
Following the shooting, Little Rock Police were notified and responded to the hospital at 11:21 p.m. where they identified the victim as Carnelius Williams. Witnesses at the hospital informed the officers that the shooting had taken place in the area of Chicot Road and Depriest Road. Upon investigating, police located a crime scene on Depriest Road, confirming the witness accounts.
The Pulaski County Coroner's office was dispatched to UAMS and subsequently transported Williams's body to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy to officially determine the cause and manner of death. In the meantime, Homicide Detectives and the Crime Scene Search Unit began their investigation at the scene of the shooting. Detectives canvassed the Depriest Road area in an effort to locate any potential witnesses and gather evidence. The investigation into the death of Carnelius Williams was launched, with authorities working to piece together the events that led to the fatal shooting. As of the latest available information, the investigation remains ongoing, and no suspects or arrests have been publicly announced in connection with the homicide.
