In the late winter of 2023, the community of Hot Springs National Park, Arkansas, was shaken by the tragic death of Josselyn Lissette Paz. On March 2, 2023, the life of the 35-year-old woman was cut short in what authorities would later describe as a murder-suicide. The grim discovery was made inside a home in Garland County, where Paz and a man were found deceased from gunshot wounds. This incident was part of a distressing 12-hour period in the Hot Springs area that saw two separate murder-suicide cases.
Josselyn, a woman remembered for her devotion to her faith and her love for her three dogs, had built a life full of promise. She was a recent graduate of National Park College, where she excelled academically and earned an Associate of Applied Science in Radiology Technology in May 2022. Following her graduation, she embarked on a fulfilling career in the Radiology Department at National Park Hospital, a job she loved and where she was adored by her colleagues. Her passions extended to cooking and baking, often sharing her creations, and she found joy in the outdoors and nature.
The investigation into her death concluded that she was the victim of a homicide before the male individual took his own life. As it was determined to be a murder-suicide, no arrests were made, and authorities did not search for any other suspects. The loss of Josselyn was deeply felt by her family, including her mother, Delia Ramos, her sister, Elizabeth Orellana, and her brother, Walter Ernesto Cañas Ramos. In her memory, her family and friends encouraged donations to the Ouachita Family Center for Domestic Violence, a testament to the tragic circumstances that ended her vibrant life.
