Brenda Sue Lawson, a 60-year-old female, found her life tragically cut short on December 5, 2017, in Hot Springs National Park, Arkansas. On that day, she became one of three victims in a brutal triple homicide that also claimed the lives of 46-year-old Dory Ann Power and 40-year-old Paul D. Power. All three were residents of Hot Springs, and their bodies were discovered inside a home on Nevada Street.
The investigation into the shocking crime moved swiftly.
The following day, on December 6, 2017, authorities arrested 34-year-old Nicholas Matthew Lewondowski in connection with the killings. Investigators determined that a dispute over stolen property had escalated to a fatal confrontation, culminating in the shooting deaths of Lawson and the Power couple. Lewondowski was subsequently charged with three counts of capital murder.
Initially, the prosecution weighed the possibility of seeking the death penalty for the heinous crime that had deeply affected the Hot Springs community. However, in February 2019, they decided to waive that option. During the trial in April 2019, the court heard detailed and harrowing testimony that painted a grim picture of the crime scene's brutality. Ultimately, the jury found Nicholas Matthew Lewondowski guilty on all three counts of capital murder. He was sentenced to three consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole, ensuring he would spend the remainder of his life in prison for the violent acts that ended the lives of Brenda Sue Lawson and two others.
