In the early morning hours of Friday, July 16, 2021, police in Hot Springs, Arkansas, responded to a call regarding a possible shooting at a residence on Rocky Reef Circle. Upon their arrival at approximately 6:00 A.M., officers discovered the front door of the home was open. Inside, they found the bodies of two individuals, 46-year-old Stephanie Lininger and 56-year-old Angel Valentin, both residents of Hot Springs.
The Hot Springs Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division
was called to the scene to begin an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the deaths. Detectives processed the scene and interviewed witnesses to piece together the events that had transpired. The initial findings of their investigation led them to believe that the deaths were the result of a murder-suicide.
Authorities indicated that the tragic incident appeared to be related to a domestic dispute. While the investigation was ongoing at the time of the initial reports, the preliminary conclusion pointed towards Angel Valentin being the suspect in the death of Stephanie Lininger before taking his own life. As such, no arrests were made in connection with the case. The investigation remained active as authorities continued to gather more information.
