In the early morning hours of August 12, 2023, tragedy struck in Little Rock, Arkansas, claiming the life of 16-year-old Darrin Deshawn Williams Jr. Patrol officers responded to a call about a shooting just after 3:30 a.m. at an apartment complex on Richsmith Circle. Upon their arrival, they discovered a grim scene. Williams and another juvenile were found suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
Emergency medical services were dispatched to the location, but despite their efforts, Darrin
Williams succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The second juvenile victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Homicide detectives were called to the scene to begin their investigation into the fatal shooting. The area was secured, and investigators began canvassing for witnesses and searching for any available video surveillance that might shed light on the events that transpired. The Pulaski County Coroner's office later transported Williams' body to the State Crime Lab for an autopsy.
For months, the investigation into the death of Darrin Williams continued. Then, on June 3, 2025, a significant development was announced by the Little Rock Police Department. An arrest was made in connection with the homicide. Jacarree Bass, 19, of Little Rock, was taken into custody. Bass faces serious charges, including Capital Murder, First Degree Battery, and committing a Terroristic Act. The investigation is reported to be ongoing.
