On a tragic Saturday, May 4, 2024, the life of 33-year-old Brittany Martin was cut short in Little Rock, Arkansas. Responding to a call of shots fired at 1901 South Pulaski Street, officers from the 12th Street Division discovered Martin suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Emergency medical services arrived at the scene and quickly transported her to a local hospital. Despite their efforts, she ultimately succumbed to her injuries.
Martin was a Black female.
The incident also left another individual, 31-year-old Dandre King, with non-life-threatening injuries. He had presented himself at a local hospital for treatment. In the aftermath of the shooting, Homicide Detectives and the Crime Scene Search Unit began a thorough investigation, canvassing the area for any potential witnesses and reviewing available video surveillance to piece together the events of that fatal day. The Pulaski County Coroner's office later transported Ms. Martin's body to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy as her family was notified of the devastating news.
The investigation led to a significant development a little over a month later. On June 19, 2024, authorities took 35-year-old Bralon Reed, a resident of Little Rock, into custody. Following his arrest, Reed was charged with Capital Murder in connection with the death of Brittany Martin. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
