Gino Barrett Bonner, a 50-year-old resident of Little Rock, Arkansas, passed away on May 25, 2024, due to gunshot wounds. The incident occurred on Friday, May 24, 2024, near 2302 South Valentine Street. Patrol officers from the 12th Street Division responded to a ShotSpotter activation at this location and found Bonner deceased from apparent gunshot wounds around 11:52 p.m..
The scene was secured, and Homicide Detectives along with the Crime Scene Search Unit were notified.
The Pulaski County Coroner was also informed and responded to transport the deceased to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy and positive identification. Detectives began a preliminary investigation, canvassing the area, looking for surveillance video, and speaking with witnesses. However, as of the latest updates, no suspect has been named, and the investigation is ongoing.
Gino Barrett Bonner was born on September 11, 1973, in Forrest City, Arkansas, to Eugene H. Bonner and Rubye L. Sheridan. He graduated from Forrest City High School in 1991 and later from Clark Atlanta University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science in 1997. Bonner had a diverse range of interests, including skateboarding, softball, golf, and a passion for poetry and writing. He was known for his unique style and often performed at clubs and events.
Bonner is predeceased by his mother, Rubye Sheridan, and his godfather, Lee H. Brooks, as well as several sisters. He is survived by his father, Eugene Bonner, numerous nieces and nephews, bonus brothers, aunts, uncles, and a large extended family and many friends. He was deeply committed to his family, both biological and chosen, and took his role as an uncle and 'Papa G' very seriously.
