Norberto Garcia Cruz, a 44-year-old Hispanic male, was discovered deceased on August 11, 2024, in what became a double homicide investigation in Little Rock, Arkansas. Law enforcement was initially dispatched to a residence located at 4023 South Shackleford Road in the evening to check on the welfare of the occupants. Upon their arrival, patrol officers observed circumstances they deemed suspicious, prompting them to enlist the help of the Little Rock Fire Department to gain entry into the
home.
Once inside, a grim scene awaited them. The bodies of Norberto Garcia Cruz and a juvenile male were found, both having suffered from what appeared to be fatal gunshot wounds. The discovery immediately led to the securing of the area and the notification of homicide detectives, who promptly responded to take over the investigation. The initial stages of the inquiry involved detectives canvassing the neighborhood in search of anyone who might have witnessed suspicious activity and to locate any video surveillance that could shed light on the events that transpired.
As the investigation progressed, authorities were able to identify a person of interest. The Little Rock Police Department has since named Wilson Moreno-Portillo as a suspect in the killings. He is currently wanted on two counts of capital murder for the deaths of Norberto Garcia Cruz and the young boy found with him. The investigation is continuing as law enforcement seeks to locate Moreno-Portillo. The bodies of both victims were transported by the Pulaski County Coroner to the Arkansas State Crime Lab to undergo an autopsy to formally determine the cause of death.
