On a November evening in 2016, a dispute over a beer tragically escalated, leading to the death of 65-year-old Jerry Stubbs in Pulaski County, Arkansas. The male victim was fatally shot on Highway 365, a violent end to what began as a simple disagreement.
The events leading to the shooting reportedly started with an argument between Stubbs and another man, Kirk Young Jr. Young had purchased a beer for Stubbs but then decided he wanted it back.
This seemingly minor conflict quickly turned heated. According to Young's account to authorities, Stubbs became upset and was allegedly armed with a gun.
A struggle ensued over the weapon, during which Young claimed he managed to take the gun from Stubbs. It was at this point that Young fired the weapon, striking Stubbs. After the shooting, Young fled the scene. The Pulaski County Sheriff's Office launched a homicide investigation into the death of Jerry Stubbs.
Following their investigation, deputies identified Kirk Young Jr. as the suspect. He was arrested in mid-December of that year and faced a charge of capital murder for his role in the death of Jerry Stubbs.
