On a Tuesday afternoon in Little Rock, Arkansas, the life of 32-year-old Justin Fletcher, a Black male, was cut short by gunfire. The incident, which also left another man wounded, unfolded on February 7, 2023.
Little Rock Police Officers were called to the scene of a shooting at 2701 South Scott Street around 3:19 p.m. When they arrived, they learned that the victim, later identified as Fletcher, was located near the intersection of West Daisy L. Gatson Bates and Broadway Street.
There, they found him suffering from at least one apparent gunshot wound. Emergency medical services responded quickly and transported Fletcher to a local hospital. Despite their efforts, he succumbed to his injuries.
As the investigation began, a second victim, 21-year-old Mohamed Diop, arrived at a different area hospital with a gunshot wound sustained in the same South Scott Street incident. Homicide detectives and the crime scene search unit were dispatched to the area to canvass for witnesses and any available video surveillance. The Pulaski County Coroner's Office took possession of Fletcher's body for an autopsy, and his next of kin were notified of the tragic loss.
In the days following the shooting, the Little Rock Police Department confirmed that the investigation was ongoing. However, authorities have not publicly identified any suspects or made any arrests in connection with the shooting death of Justin Fletcher. The circumstances surrounding the motive for the shooting remain undisclosed as the investigation continues.
