In a tragic turn of events on a Sunday afternoon in Fayetteville, Arkansas, a family argument escalated to a fatal conclusion, leaving a father dead and his son facing a murder charge. Robert Dickson Sr., a 61-year-old man, was shot and killed in his own home on September 15, 2024. The person accused of this act was his own son, 29-year-old Robert Dickson Jr., who lived with him.
The younger Dickson was the one to call 911, reporting that a verbal dispute with his father had erupted into
a violent shootout. He claimed to the authorities that his father had brandished a. 40-caliber pistol and began firing at him. In what he described as an act of self-defense, Robert Jr. stated that he retrieved his shotgun and returned fire, fatally wounding his father.
However, as Fayetteville police detectives began their investigation at the residence on North Bernese Drive, the evidence they uncovered started to paint a different picture, one that did not align with the son's account of a gun battle. The physical evidence suggested that Robert Dickson Sr. was in his bedroom closet when he was shot twice. While a pistol was found in the closet with the elder Dickson, investigators concluded that the son had entered the room and shot his father without legal justification.
