In the early morning hours of July 30, 2023, a tragedy unfolded in the community of Bluewell, West Virginia, that cut short the life of 27-year-old Arrien Porterfield, a Black male from Princeton. The incident, which the Mercer County Sheriff's Department is investigating as a homicide, took place at Lynn's Drive-in around 3 a.m. Porterfield was found in the parking lot with a fatal gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.
