On July 19, 2023, Jeremy Smith, a 41-year-old resident of Muscatine, Iowa, lost his life due to gun violence. Responding officers found Smith deceased from a gunshot wound at the scene of the incident.

The suspect in the fatal shooting was identified as Andre Jones, a 20-year-old individual. Witnesses provided information that led police to identify Jones, and a search was initiated to apprehend him.
