In the early hours of a Sunday morning in Waterloo, Iowa, the life of 26-year-old Ana Hellia Berinobis-McLemore, a Black / African American female, was cut short. On May 22, 2022, she was a passenger in a vehicle at a residential intersection when gunfire erupted. Struck by the bullets, Berinobis-McLemore succumbed to her injuries, marking the third homicide in the city that year.
