In the winter of 2022, the life of 18-year-old Darne Willie James Jackson was cut tragically short following a dispute in a Tucson, Arizona shopping mall parking lot. The incident unfolded on the evening of Tuesday, February 1, 2022, in the parking garage of the Dillard's department store at Park Place Mall. Jackson, a male, was at the mall with two female companions when they encountered 23-year-old Rico Evi Ramon.
What began as a verbal argument between Jackson and Ramon quickly
escalated into a physical altercation. The confrontation took a fatal turn when Ramon allegedly shot Jackson. After the shooting, Ramon fled the scene. Emergency services were called to the location around 6:20 p.m., and Jackson was transported to St. Joseph's Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries on Friday, February 4, 2022.
In the wake of the shooting, the Tucson Police Department began an investigation. The following day, on Wednesday, February 2, Rico Evi Ramon turned himself in to authorities at the East Side Substation. He was subsequently arrested and booked into the Pima County Jail, facing a charge of first-degree murder in connection with the death of Darne Willie James Jackson.
