In the late hours of a March evening in Phoenix, Arizona, a dispute over a bottle of beer at a local bar tragically escalated, ending the life of 33-year-old Jesus Rafael Lozano-Vidal. On March 14, 2014, Lozano-Vidal was visiting the Mi Ranchito Dancing bar, a place where he also worked as a security guard. Though off-duty, he intervened when a man attempted to leave the establishment with a beer bottle after closing time.
This seemingly minor confrontation quickly turned fatal.
Following the altercation, Lozano-Vidal was shot multiple times. He succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The incident sparked a police investigation that would soon focus on two brothers. Authorities identified 21-year-old Alex Ray Flores as the man who allegedly fired the shots that killed Lozano-Vidal. His older brother, 22-year-old Max Flores, was also implicated in the crime.
In the weeks that followed the deadly shooting, law enforcement made arrests in the case. Alex Ray Flores was apprehended and faced several charges, including first-degree murder. His brother, Max Flores, was also arrested and charged with murder, specifically for his role in committing a felony offense that resulted in a death.
