In the early morning hours of October 10, 2016, in Camp Verde, Arizona, 31-year-old John Warren 'Kyle' Silva, a male resident of the town, was fatally shot at a Circle K convenience store located at 24 Finnie Flat Road. The incident began with a physical altercation between two women, one associated with Silva and the other with the man who would become his assailant. As Silva approached the two women, he was shot.
He died at the scene.
The suspect, who fled after the shooting, was quickly identified as 27-year-old Levi Jones from the Phoenix area. An investigation was launched by the Camp Verde Marshal’s Office in conjunction with the Yavapai County Attorney’s Office. It was noted by investigators that Silva and Jones had been acquainted with each other prior to the deadly encounter. The day after the shooting, on October 11, members of the Phoenix Police Department's Fugitive Apprehension Investigative Detail located and arrested Jones in San Tan Valley.
A second individual, 28-year-old Jill Buckley of Camp Verde, was arrested on October 12 in connection with the homicide. A search warrant was served, leading to her arrest on charges of hindering prosecution in the first degree, two counts of endangerment, and possession of dangerous drugs. She was subsequently booked into the Yavapai County Detention Center.
