In the early morning hours of January 2, 2017, the life of 27-year-old Bilal Cochrane was tragically cut short in what Tucson police have described as a targeted shooting. The incident unfolded at approximately 1:15 a.m. at a residence in the 4000 block of East Flower Street. When officers arrived at the scene, they found Mr. Cochrane inside the home with evident signs of gunshot trauma.
Despite immediate first aid efforts by the responding officers and subsequent medical treatment by
Tucson Fire personnel, Bilal Cochrane was pronounced deceased at the scene. Homicide detectives determined that shortly after 1:00 a.m., one or more unknown individuals arrived at the home and made contact with Cochrane. Almost immediately, shots were fired, and he was struck multiple times.
At the time of the shooting, several other people were present inside the residence. Investigators believe that Mr. Cochrane was the specific target of the attack. As of the latest available information, no arrests have been made in connection with the homicide, and authorities have not publicly identified any suspects. The investigation remains ongoing as detectives continue to follow up on leads.
