On October 12, 2017, Nicholas Encalade, a 53-year-old resident of Tucson, Arizona, was fatally shot in an incident at Iron Horse Park. Encalade and an adult female were visiting the park when they were approached by two unknown Hispanic males who demanded money and other property. Despite the victims complying with the demands, one of the suspects pulled out a gun and shot Encalade before both suspects fled the scene on foot.
