On February 8, 2018, Tucson police responded to a welfare check at a residence in the 2700 block of East Copper Street. The property owner had received a letter from her tenants, instructing her to contact authorities to recover their bodies from inside the home. Upon entering, officers discovered the bodies of 85-year-old Bill Drake and his 71-year-old wife, Margaret Hoyt, both with apparent gunshot wounds.
