On April 26, 2018, 17-year-old Raymond Vargas was fatally shot in El Mirage, Arizona. The incident occurred while Vargas was driving his friends home, and he was shot in the chest.

Following the shooting, law enforcement launched an investigation and subsequently arrested a 15-year-old boy in connection with Vargas's death. The arrest was made by El Mirage police officers, who took the juvenile into custody for the deadly shooting.
