In December of 2019, in Tucson, Arizona, a welfare check would lead to the discovery of a tragic event that cut short the life of 27-year-old Nickole Michelle Armas. The events unfolded after Armas’s sister became concerned and requested that law enforcement check on her. Deputies from the Pima County Sheriff's Department responded to the Catalina Foothills apartment but were initially unable to make contact with anyone inside.
A second welfare check was requested, yielding the same result.
The Pima County Sheriff's Department has stated that they believe Armas was a victim of a murder-suicide. Her boyfriend, Andrew Moore, was found deceased in the same room. Investigators believe this was an isolated incident and are not seeking any other suspects in connection with the deaths.
