In the evening hours of May 13, 2020, a verbal argument escalated into deadly violence in a west Phoenix neighborhood, claiming the life of William Jerry Anaya, a 39-year-old Hispanic male. The altercation, which involved two other men, turned physical and ultimately resulted in Anaya being fatally shot inside a home near 36th Avenue and Moreland Street.
