In the small, rural community of Chloride, Arizona, a confrontation rooted in past allegations ended in the deaths of two individuals, including 57-year-old Bryan Dean Drake. On the evening of September 28, 2020, Mohave County Sheriff's Office deputies were dispatched to a residence on Palo Verde Drive after a neighbor placed a call for assistance. Inside the home, they discovered the bodies of Drake and 61-year-old Robin Rae Hammontree.
