In the early morning hours of October 19, 2020, the life of 15-year-old Brisyn Isaiah Gilmore, a male from Tucson, Arizona, was tragically cut short by gun violence. The fatal incident unfolded at a party taking place near the intersection of Liberty Avenue and Pennsylvania Drive on the city's south side. Brisyn had arrived at the gathering with a group of friends, including a juvenile female.
An argument erupted between Brisyn's group and another group already present at the party.
The confrontation quickly escalated, and members of the opposing group reportedly fired handguns into the air. As the situation grew more dangerous, Brisyn and his friends attempted to flee the scene in an SUV-type vehicle. It was during their departure that the suspects fired at the fleeing vehicle, striking both Brisyn and his female companion.
In the chaotic aftermath, the injured victims were taken to different locations for medical attention. The female victim, who sustained non-life-threatening injuries, was able to exit the vehicle and contact a family member to take her to the hospital. Brisyn, along with a friend, was dropped off at Banner University Medical Center. Despite the efforts of medical staff, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
When Tucson Police Department officers arrived at the scene of the shooting, they found no victims but discovered several bullet casings on the property and in the street, evidence of the violence that had transpired. The investigation into the death of Brisyn Isaiah Gilmore was launched, but the occupants of the vehicle he was in had fled before police arrived. At the time of the initial reports, there were no suspects in custody, and authorities were seeking information from the public to bring those responsible for Brisyn's death to justice.
