On February 27, 1995, 52-year-old Roberta A. Butler, a Caucasian female, was found dead in her Benicia townhouse. Her son, Jack Barron, discovered her lifeless body in bed, with signs indicating she had been smothered. This tragic event marked the fourth mysterious death in Barron's immediate family over a span of less than three years.
