On the evening of March 6, 2021, a heated argument at a Tucson, Arizona apartment complex tragically escalated, ending the life of 35-year-old Anthony Watkins. The altercation, which turned physical, concluded with Watkins suffering from fatal gunshot wounds at the rear of the complex located at 7450 E. 22nd St.
Tucson Police officers were dispatched to the scene around 10:00 p.m. following a report of the shooting.
Upon arrival, they discovered Watkins with evident signs of gunshot trauma. Despite the immediate medical aid rendered by the officers and the subsequent efforts of Tucson Fire Medics, Watkins was pronounced deceased at the scene.
In a surprising turn of events, a 16-year-old male, Lashaun Jayvion White, placed a 911 call shortly after the incident, claiming to have information about the shooting. Officers located and detained White at a nearby location. Homicide detectives learned that White and Watkins were acquainted and that their verbal dispute had intensified into a physical fight, during which a handgun was produced and Watkins was shot.
Following an investigation, Lashaun Jayvion White was arrested and taken into custody. He was subsequently charged with second-degree murder and held in the Pima County Jail.
