On September 3, 2021, Michele Cox, a 38-year-old woman from Casa Grande, Arizona, was fatally shot by her 5-year-old son in an accidental incident. The incident occurred at an apartment complex in Casa Grande.

According to investigators, the 5-year-old child accidentally took hold of a handgun and shot his mother in the chest. The authorities believe that the shooting was unintentional and that the child did not mean to harm his mother.
