On a Sunday evening, November 21, 2021, the life of 48-year-old Frankie Perez Sanchez, a Hispanic male, was tragically cut short in Tucson, Arizona. He had gone to an apartment complex on South Mission Road to visit a friend, a seemingly ordinary visit that would end in violence. While at the complex, a dispute erupted, and Sanchez found himself in a physical altercation with an acquaintance.
As the fight escalated, another individual intervened, and the situation took a deadly turn.
Multiple gunshots rang out, striking Sanchez. When Tucson police officers responded to the reports of gunfire, they discovered him with critical injuries. Despite the immediate medical attention he received, Frankie Perez Sanchez was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into the homicide led detectives to identify a 17-year-old, Andrew Gonzalez, as the primary suspect in the shooting. In connection with the death of Frankie Perez Sanchez, Gonzalez was arrested and subsequently booked into the Pima County Jail. He is facing a charge of second-degree murder for his alleged role in the fatal confrontation. The incident marked the 89th homicide in Tucson for the year 2021.
