Darne Willie James Jackson, an 18-year-old male, tragically lost his life in early February 2022 following a shooting in Tucson, Arizona. The fatal incident occurred in the parking lot of Park Place Mall, located at 5890 E. Broadway Boulevard. Jackson was in the Dillard's parking lot with two female companions when they encountered 23-year-old Rico Evi Ramon.
What began as a verbal dispute between Jackson and Ramon quickly escalated into a physical altercation.
The confrontation took a deadly turn when Ramon allegedly shot Jackson. Officers were dispatched to the scene around 6:20 p.m. on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, where they discovered Jackson with life-threatening gunshot wounds. He was immediately transported to St. Joseph's Hospital for medical attention.
Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Darne Jackson succumbed to his injuries on Friday, February 4, 2022. The suspect, Rico Evi Ramon, did not remain at the scene of the shooting. However, he later turned himself in to the police at the East Side Substation on the Wednesday following the incident. Ramon was subsequently arrested and booked into the Pima County Jail, facing a charge of first-degree murder.
