In the late afternoon of September 30, 2022, a dispute on Tucson's south side turned fatal, claiming the life of 39-year-old Hispanic male, Ramon Alberto Casarez Sepulveda. The incident unfolded around 4:30 p.m. in the 6200 block of South Morris Boulevard, a residential area that would soon become the center of a homicide investigation. Events leading up to the shooting began with a disagreement that prompted Sepulveda to visit the home of an individual he knew.
The confrontation at the
residence escalated dramatically, culminating in the other individual discharging a firearm. Sepulveda was struck by the gunfire, sustaining life-threatening injuries. Emergency services were called to the scene, and upon arrival, first responders found Sepulveda with gunshot wounds. He was rushed to Banner University Medical Center for urgent medical attention. Despite the efforts of the medical team, Ramon Sepulveda succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
As Tucson Police Department officers secured the scene, a man who was present during the altercation remained and was contacted by law enforcement. Detectives were called in to lead the investigation into the shooting.
