In the fading light of a Friday evening in Phoenix, Arizona, on November 11, 2022, the life of 20-year-old Taliyah Kizzee was tragically cut short. Just after 6:30 p.m., near the intersection of 27th Avenue and Ocotillo Road, police responded to a call of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered a young female, later identified as Taliyah, suffering from a fatal gunshot wound.
She was pronounced deceased at the scene, leaving investigators to piece together the events that led to this violent end.
The investigation into the death of the young woman quickly focused on her boyfriend, 22-year-old Montel Alexander. As detectives delved into the case, conducting numerous interviews and analyzing evidence, he emerged as a person of interest. Their investigation revealed a troubled history, and on November 17, 2022, Alexander was arrested and booked into jail on several charges, including kidnapping and making gang-related threats against Kizzee's family.
While incarcerated for these offenses, the homicide investigation continued to build a case against him. On November 29, 2022, detectives transported Alexander from jail to police headquarters for an interview regarding the murder of his girlfriend.
