In the late hours of a Sunday evening, the life of 55-year-old Reydesel “Ray” Parra, a male business owner from Phoenix, was tragically cut short. On November 20, 2022, in Glendale, Arizona, Parra was at an apartment complex in the 5700 block of North 59th Avenue when the fatal incident occurred. He was visiting his girlfriend and had just left a family gathering.
Parra was reportedly making a second trip to bring items upstairs to his girlfriend's apartment when he was shot.
Just after 10 p.m., a 911 caller reported hearing a man screaming followed by a gunshot. When Glendale police officers arrived at the scene, they found Parra near an apartment stairwell with a life-threatening gunshot wound. According to his girlfriend, she saw him crawling up the stairs, asking for help before she sat him down against a wall and tried to keep him conscious. Parra was quickly transported to a local hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. Known as the owner of Ray's European Garage in Phoenix, a business that had been in operation since 1982, Parra was described by his family as a selfless and genuine man who was always willing to help others. He was a single father who had raised three children on his own.
The investigation into Parra's death was handled by Glendale Police Department homicide detectives. Initially, authorities sought the public's help in identifying any suspects involved in the shooting. Evidence located at the scene during the initial investigation eventually led police to identify 30-year-old Daravon Sueing as the suspect. On Wednesday, February 15, 2023, homicide detectives located and arrested Sueing near the 1600 block of West Broadway Road without incident. He was subsequently booked on one count of first-degree murder and one count of misconduct involving weapons.
