In the winter of 2022, a young life was abruptly cut short on the streets of west Phoenix. On the evening of December 7th, first responders were called to the scene of a vehicle crash near 69th Drive and Fillmore Street. Inside the vehicle, they discovered 18-year-old Alan Roman, a Black/African American male, suffering from a gunshot wound. The discovery, made just after 7:30 p.m., shifted the incident from a traffic accident to a homicide investigation.
