In the early hours of a Wednesday morning in west Phoenix, the life of 35-year-old Ruben Longoria was tragically cut short. On May 28, 2025, just after 7:00 a.m., police were called to the scene of a shooting in the area of 6100 West Indianola Avenue. There, they discovered Longoria suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite the efforts of first responders, his injuries proved to be fatal, and he died at the scene.
The investigation into the shooting quickly pointed detectives
toward a suspect. Through their initial work, they were able to identify 42-year-old Johnny Olivarez Sr. as the individual allegedly responsible for Longoria's death. Police resources were mobilized to locate and apprehend him.
Later that same day, their efforts paid off when they located Olivarez Sr. at a residence in the vicinity of 3100 North 65th Avenue. He was taken into custody without incident. Following his arrest, Johnny Olivarez Sr. was booked into jail and is facing a charge of 1st Degree murder in connection with the fatal shooting of Ruben Longoria. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident remains ongoing.
