In the late hours of February 5, 2024, the city of Phoenix was marked by a violent tragedy that claimed the life of 33-year-old Carlos Cardenas Ome. Just before 10:00 p.m., police responded to reports of a shooting near 76th Avenue and Thomas Road. Upon arrival, officers discovered a man who had sustained a gunshot wound.
Phoenix Fire Department personnel were dispatched to the scene, but tragically, their efforts were in vain as Mr. Cardenas Ome was pronounced deceased at the location.
Homicide detectives were called to the West Phoenix neighborhood to begin the painstaking process of piecing together the events that led to the fatal shooting.
As of now, the circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear, and authorities have not publicly identified any suspects or made any arrests in connection with the case.
