On March 18, 2023, just after midnight, Phoenix police officers responded to a shooting at a residence near the area of 19th Avenue and Ocotillo Road. Upon arrival, they found 40-year-old Daniel Perez Jr. severely injured with multiple gunshot wounds. The Phoenix Fire Department treated Perez at the scene before he was transported to a local hospital, where he ultimately did not survive his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
