In the spring of 2023, a quiet evening in a west Phoenix neighborhood was shattered by violence, leaving a family grieving and a community searching for answers. On March 28th, 35-year-old Pedro Manuel Lopez Cañez, a Hispanic male, was found shot to death on a sidewalk near the intersection of 43rd Avenue and Thomas Road.
