In the early morning hours of May 7, 2014, the life of 35-year-old Kevin Ore was tragically cut short in a senseless act of violence in Phoenix, Arizona. A male, Ore had recently overcome a battle with stage four Melanoma and was embracing a new chapter in his life. He was found shot to death in the roadway at North 8th Street and East Las Palmaritas Drive, not far from his home.
On the night of his death, Ore had been at his place of work, the Rum Runner Bar, located on North 7th
Street. He had stayed late, until approximately 2:00 a.m., to ensure a female co-worker got home safely. Afterwards, he began his walk home, a journey he would never complete. A passerby discovered his body around 5:45 a.m. Investigators determined he had been shot, but the motive for the killing remained a mystery.
In the days and years that followed, the investigation into Kevin Ore's murder yielded few answers. Robbery was ruled out as a motive, as none of his personal belongings had been taken. Despite the efforts of the Phoenix Police Department and pleas from his grieving family, no suspects were ever publicly identified, and no arrests have been made in connection with his death. The case grew cold, leaving his loved ones with unanswered questions and the pain of his unsolved murder.
The community was left to mourn a man described by his family as kind, with a great sense of humor, who was always willing to help others. His death was a profound loss for his family, including his fiancée, parents, and siblings.
