In the spring of 2023, the life of 14-year-old Joshua Ybarra, a Hispanic male, was tragically cut short in a burst of gunfire at a Mesa, Arizona apartment complex. On the evening of April 11th, just before 8:30 p.m., multiple 911 calls reported shots fired at the Tides on Gilbert East, located near Gilbert Road and University Drive. When Mesa police officers arrived at the scene, they found young Joshua with a gunshot wound. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal
