On May 12, 2023, a tragic incident occurred in a local park near 16th Street and Union Hills Drive in north Phoenix, Arizona. Phoenix police officers responded to a shooting call at about 8:48 p.m. and found 17-year-old Hery Almeida-Garcia suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite immediate medical attention, Almeida-Garcia was taken to a local hospital where he did not survive his injuries.
