In the bright morning hours of June 16, 2023, a heated argument shattered the quiet of a Phoenix, Arizona neighborhood, leaving 27-year-old Kenneth Lemons dead from gunshot wounds. The male victim was discovered by Phoenix police officers after they responded to reports of shots fired inside a residence in the area of 1600 North 51st Street at approximately 10:10 a.m.
Upon their arrival, authorities found a chaotic scene.
An adult woman was located near the home with serious, but not life-threatening, injuries. A man who was with her was also present and was immediately detained by the officers. Inside the residence, they found Mr. Lemons, who had sustained fatal gunshot wounds and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Detectives investigating the incident learned that the shooting stemmed from a dispute involving Lemons, the detained man, and the injured woman. The investigation revealed that both Kenneth Lemons and the other man were armed with firearms during the argument. In the midst of this confrontation, shots were fired, leading to Lemons' death.
Following the initial stages of the investigation, the man and woman who were present at the scene were released.
