In the late hours of a Tuesday night in a neighborhood near 75th Avenue and Indian School Road, the life of 23-year-old Hispanic male Ramon Flores Gonzalez was tragically cut short. On December 5, 2023, just after 11 p.m., Phoenix police were called to the scene following reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, officers discovered Gonzalez lying on the ground, having sustained a gunshot wound.
First responders immediately provided medical aid to Gonzalez, but his injuries proved to be
fatal, and he died at the scene. Detectives who began to investigate the homicide learned that the individual responsible for the shooting had fled the area before law enforcement arrived. The initial stages of the investigation were active as authorities processed the evidence and sought information from the public to help identify the person who had taken Gonzalez's life.
The investigation progressed quickly, and within a few days, a suspect was identified as 21-year-old Jesus Castillo-Ordonez. On December 8, 2023, authorities located and arrested Castillo-Ordonez. Following his arrest, further investigation and interviews with the suspect not only linked him to the murder of Ramon Flores Gonzalez but also connected him to an armed robbery that had occurred on November 9, 2023. Castillo-Ordonez was subsequently booked into jail to face multiple serious charges, including murder and armed robbery.
