In the early morning hours of April 15, 2024, a dispute in a shopping center parking lot near 83rd Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road in Phoenix, Arizona, ended in the tragic death of 38-year-old Daniel Amos Kemp. Police responded to the scene around 9 a.m. and found Kemp with at least one gunshot wound. Despite the life-saving efforts of the Phoenix Fire Department, he was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Preliminary information released by detectives indicated that the shooting stemmed
from an argument between Kemp and another individual. The investigation into the incident quickly progressed, leading to the identification of a suspect.
Two days later, on April 17, 2024, Phoenix Police located and arrested 33-year-old Alvin Massenburg II in connection with the shooting. Following an interview with detectives, Massenburg was booked on multiple charges, including murder. Authorities have stated that they are not seeking any other suspects in this case.
Daniel Amos Kemp, known to some as 'Brutis,' was born in Phoenix on February 7, 1986. He was a landscaper by profession and was remembered for his love of animals, particularly his own pets. He was married to Cindi Kemp and was a father to their 15-year-old son, Brian Bennett. His family described him as a strong and protective person with a loyal nature.
