In the early morning hours of September 7, 2024, a house party in west Phoenix turned tragic, ending the life of 33-year-old Humberto Ortiz, a Hispanic/Latino male. The gathering was taking place at a residence near the intersection of 51st Avenue and Thomas Road when violence erupted. Just after 4:15 a.m., the sounds of celebration were pierced by at least one gunshot, prompting calls to the Phoenix Police Department.
When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered Mr.
Ortiz in front of the house, suffering from a critical gunshot wound. First responders and fire personnel immediately began administering lifesaving measures, but despite their efforts, his injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
