In the winter of 2015, a fatal encounter in an Omaha, Nebraska park brought a tragic end to the life of 46-year-old Ray Patterson, a Black / African American male. On the evening of January 26th, Patterson was found shot in his car at Acre Park, located near 50th and Fort Streets. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but ultimately succumbed to his injuries, leaving a community in shock and a family to mourn their loss.
